As well as Watson played in becoming the oldest Par-3 victor, he was challenged by 78-year-old Jack Nicklaus, who finished tied for third at 4-under.

"I said, "well I think you're going to make a hole-in-one".

"I talked to him this weekend and saw a few things and he is really swinging well, the best I've ever seen him swing", according to Nicklaus.

All GT did was hit a front of thousands of the most famous golf course in the world. "For that to happen, it was just unbelievable".

Tony Finau put a scare through the big crowd when he rolled his ankle while celebrating his own hole in one.

Player won at Augusta in 1961, 1974 and 1978, while the Nicklaus holds a record six Masters wins - in 1963, 1965, 1966, 1972, 1975 before a vintage performance in 1986.

Sam Snead had been the event's grand champion, winning in 1974 at age 61. Then he appeared to snap it back into place.

Jack Nicklaus won the Masters six times during his golfing career, but the Golden Bear isn't the only member of his family who's pulled off a cool golfing feat at Augusta National.

"So Jack and I both designed nine-hole golf courses".

Along with Gary Nicklaus and Finau, the only other hole-in-one Wednesday came from Dylan Frittelli, who aced No. 8. Judging by his swing, and his club-twirl game, Gary looks like a player, but not even he could have imagined pulling this off. He made it while wearing a caddie bib and after carrying his grandfather's bags.

THE ANNUAL Par-3 Contest took place at Augusta today ahead of the opening round of the 2018 Masters on Thursday. According to a Golfweek article in December, he has aspirations of being a professional golfer one day, although he also is heavily into music.
