Superintendent Bruce Watkins wouldn't say how old the child was that brought the knife, only that he is a student at Pleasantview. The 8-year-old Minnesota elementary school student, who was not named, was talking to three of his classmate, ages 13,9, and 8 when he became verbally aggressive.

He was expelled on Monday and consequently made the alleged threat against the Next Gymnasium upper secondary school, where the incident took place. Police, ambulance and parents were called and responded. All three were treated and released from a local hospital, according to the Star Tribune in Minnesota.

Police say officers took the student into custody and interviewed him. He said the student pulled the knife from his backpack in the hallway before school started, and added that staff and students traumatized by the incident will be able to speak with mental health workers if needed.

Three elementary school students were wounded Monday when they were attacked by second-grader with a knife, reports say.

Beise said the boy was released to his parents. He said he didn't know if the boy had been bullied, or if he had mental health issues. He says the boy cooperated with investigators. Once the police arrived, the assailant was in the school counselor's office while the victims received medical care in the nurse's office.

"They don't charge children this young with crimes", the chief said "You try to get them treatment and help them be successful".

A CLASS 12 student, pursuing his academic future by doing labour works, has been missing for last three weeks from Bhilai-3.
