LeBron, Cavs end "crazy" regular season with loss to Knicks

The Indiana Pacers are a fiesty basketball team that scraps it out on both ends of the floor and has won three of the last four meetings against the Cleveland Cavaliers. Jose Calderon, the first free agent Cleveland signed over the summer, has persisted through the whole turnstile.

Following Wednesday's regular-season finale, James stamped this as-yet-unfinished season a personal triumph.

With young, inexperienced players such as Clarkson and Larry Nance Jr. on the roster, Lue is urging them to make their mark on the defensive side of the ball. I'm sure LeBron could care less about winning MVP and cares more about winning championships, but if he does not win MVP this season the league needs to reassess how they hand out the trophy.

Oddsmakers believe that the Cleveland Cavaliers are the favorites to emerge as the victor of the Eastern Conference. You just gotta be ready for that, gotta be ready for what they bring to the table. But the Cavs, as the No. 4 seed - the lowest seed James has had going into the playoffs in at least a decade - were only a game ahead of the No. 5 Pacers in the East.

Game 2 of the Eastern Conference quarterfinals matchup is 7 p.m. April 18 at The Q. The series shifts to IN for Game 3 at 7 p.m. April 20 and Game 4 at 8:30 p.m. April 22. Game 6 shifts back to IN on April 27.

While in Miami, LeBron and his amigos beat the Pacers in consecutive years - 2013 and 2014 - in the Eastern Conference finals.

As a fan, it has been one of the most enjoyable years that I can remember.

However, the Cleveland Cavaliers [VIDEO] are also -650 favorites as a No. 4 seed to defeat the No. 5 seed Indiana Pacers.

For the first time in LeBron's second stint with the Cavaliers, the road to the NBA Finals actually looks perilous. IN does have a 3-1 edge over Cleveland this season.

James has faced the Pacers in the postseason four times during his career.

It didn't happen. The 6-foot-10, 251-pounder averaged 19.0 points and 11.1 rebounds while playing with Irving a season ago.

It's the fifth time in the last seven years the Pacers have faced LeBron James in the postseason. That means getting consistent performances from the inconsistent Myles Turner, as well as Domas Sabonis, Lance Stephenson, and Bogdanovic.

Cavaliers forward Kendrick Perkins, who was drafted in 2003 after James, is awed by his friend's commitment and dedication. "Trying to take away what a team does best and try to make them do something different that they're not used to doing". The Wizards struggled down the stretch, losing nine of the last 12. Defensively, the Cavs will be tested by dynamic two-guards in their first two series, so this problem will last much longer than just one series.
