If Shenmue III passing its Kickstarter and getting a full release wasn't enough, we are now getting Shenmue I & II remastered in all its glory for the next gen.

The games will be released in both physical and digital formats, and they'll feature improved textures, which should come as a relief to anyone who remembers the original Dreamcast versions.

Whatever the case, Sega has confirmed Shenmue 1 & 2 for PS4, XBO and PC this year. The series, which debuted on SEGA's Dreamcast system in 1999, will be coming to Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC later this year. The official announcement trailer is not enough to base on, either, since Sega noted at the start that "This trailer uses pre-release footage, and represents a work in progress".

The recently announced remastered collection of the first two Shenmue games will have several new features such as modern controls, the option to choose between Japanese & English voice acting and an updated user interface.

One of the most memorable aspects of the original Shenmue, for better or worse depending on who you ask, was the amount of time players were required to wait around for key plot events to occur. The most interesting, yet long anticipated, was a PC, PS4 and Xbox One Shenmue remaster.

The Shenmue games tell a story of intrigue and mystery as Ryo Hazuki searches for answers to his father's murder and to unlock the mysteries of an artifact called the Dragon's Mirror.
