Arenado, Perdomo suspended for five games after brawl

"I'm sure it's coming, but I really don't know what (MLB's) plans are going to be", Arenado said Thursday prior to the Rockies game against the Nationals. "It is what it is".

Gurriel was suspended for the first five games of the season for a racist gesture made to pitcher Yu Darvish in the World Series. "I just defended myself".

But they aren't the only ones receiving a ban for their actions. As part of the fallout from the San Diego Padres and Colorado Rockies ruckus, four players have been suspended by Major League Baseball, including Rockies star Nolan Arenado who was the centerpiece of Wednesday's incident.

On Wednesday, Colorado third baseman Nolan Arenado would charge the mound. "It is what it is", Arenado said. It's hard not to react in a certain way when you know somebody is trying to do something on goal.

Outfielder Gerardo Parra will be suspended for 4 games and will face a fine for fighting. "But 96 (mph) at you on objective, you get frustrated".

Obviously, for the Rockies, the suspensions to Parra and Arenado are big blows to the team as both of them are starters in the everyday lineup.

He'll nearly assuredly appeal said suspension. Ellis and Freddy Galvis and Rox righty German Marquez.

Padres pitcher Buddy Baumann received a one-game suspension, as well. In fact, two others are receiving suspensions for their roles as well.

"This falls in line with what you have seen the last couple of years for these things", Black said.

Perdomo, Arenado, and Parra are set to begin their suspensions tonight. He played in one spring training game before having surgery February 28.

For now, all Nolan Arenado can do is play baseball and await his fate.

That set the stage for Arenado, who didn't take kindly to a pitch that almost grazed his back. Tony Wolters hit a bases-loaded, two-run single that center fielder Franchy Cordero misplayed to allow another run to score. Prior to the game, Blackmon ran and stretched while head trainer Keith Dugger and Black looked on. We are hoping (he doesn't go on the DL).
