Son Heung-Min ensured an ankle injury suffered by Harry Kane didn't cost Tottenham Hotspur a heavy price as he scored twice in a win 4-1 at Bournemouth Sunday. "But for me it's so important the squad, because with a greater squad, with everyone fighting for the same objective, you can achieve all that you want".

A prolonged absence for Kane, who is the Premier League's joint top scorer with Liverpool's Mohamed Salah on 24 goals this season, would put a major dent in Tottenham's hopes of a top-four finish and Champions League qualification. "We are just thinking about Champions League [places]".

Having made incredible progress under manager Mauricio Pochettino, the England global is now considered by many to be the best centre-forward in the Premier League.

"It was a flawless answer after a massive disappointment against Juventus", Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino said.

"But we hope that it's not a massive issue".

The injury will also be a worry for England, with Kane expected to lead the line for Gareth Southgate's side at this summer's World Cup in Russian Federation.

England's opening game is against Tunisia in Volgograd on June 18th.

Kane couldn't continue after injuring his ankle in a collision with Bournemouth keeper Asmir Begovic shortly before Dele Alli cancelled out Junior Stanislas' opener for the Cherries.

Worse was to come for Spurs in the 29th minute when Kane drifted offside before meeting Christian Eriksen's right-wing cross.

"It's a massive three points".

With England manager Gareth Southgate set to name his squad for the forthcoming global friendlies against Holland and Italy before Spurs face an important FA Cup quarter-final at Swansea next weekend, Kane could be a major absentee for club and country.

Petr Cech saved a penalty on his way to becoming the first goalkeeper to claim 200 Premier League clean sheets.

That was until the stroke of the hour mark, when Son, who was adamant he should have been awarded a penalty a few minutes earlier, scuffed his volleyed effort into the back of Begovic's goal to give Spurs the lead for the first time of the afternoon and secure his 17th of the campaign.

"It's an unbelievable personal milestone obviously", Cech said. "If you're positive you start the injury return from today".
