A GoFundMe page has been set up to help Ruthie Ann and her family.

The 44-year-old female driver lost control of her auto for reasons now unknown and hit pedestrians before she struck a parked, unoccupied vehicle and came to a stop, police said.

"It's impossible for me to believe that something like this could happen to one of our kids", said Matsushita.

Police sources told the New York Post there is video surveillance footage from the scene, and it was unclear whether the driver had the light.

Miles, 34, who is pregnant, was in stable condition at Brooklyn Hospital early Tuesday, and her friend Lauren Lew is also reported to be recovering, Entertainment Weekly reported.

The driver, Dorothy Bruns, 44, was taken into police custody.

Miles is best known for winning the 2015 Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Musical for her performance as Lady Thiang in The King and I, and also had a recurring guest role on The Americans.

Lew's father, William Durston, who lives in Hawaii, told the Daily News of NY that he spoke with her.

"Ruthie is beloved by her many friends and colleagues in the Broadway and touring communities", Stephens wrote on the GoFundMe page.

The driver reportedly ran a red light.

"For Chirlane and I obviously this is very personal". According to NY1, Bruns was arrested and charges against her are pending.

At the time of publishing it was unknown how far along Miles' pregnancy was or if the unborn baby was harmed.

"I'm in contact with @NYPDHighway and @BrooklynDA, and will do all I can to make sure she is held accountable. This loss of life is tragic, painful for all of us, particularly those of us who are parents".
