Tiger Woods to continue comeback next week

Tiger Woods has confirmed via Twitter that he will play in two imminent events - the Valspar Championship and the Arnold Palmer Invitational - as he prepares for another Masters challenge. And former PGA Tour victor Brandel Chamblee believes it is only a matter of time before Woods contends for a trophy.

"Certainly there's hurdles to overcome, but the sharpness of his golf swing and his game look very, very good", said Duval."You can see that as much as anything I think it was some competitive rust he was fighting".

The decision to play the Valspar and Arnold Palmer events means Woods will play in all three Florida tournaments leading up to the Masters, which will be held April 5-8 at Augusta National.

Tiger Woods' return to golf has been a positive one with the 14-time major victor recently earning his first top-15 finish since 2015.

Woods is coming off a 12th-place finish at the Honda Classic in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., his third official event since returning from spinal fusion surgery last April. He missed the cut at Riviera, where he never won even at his best.

Woods will be making his debut in the Valspar Championship.

"I need to keep playing tournament golf, but I need to keep building on it", he added. That was the goal when I first came back - try and get everything situated for April.

"I've been away from tournament golf for so long that I'm starting to feel the rounds", Woods said Sunday following the Honda Classic. "And I feel like I'm right on track for that". He has not competed at Bay Hill since he won in 2013 due to four back surgeries that kept him out of the event.

Other marquee names in the Valspar field include Jordan Spieth and Sergio Garcia, while one would-be alternate won't be around for the festivities.
