Terry Myerson, executive vice president for Microsoft's windows and devices group, is leaving the company while it undergoes a reorganization that will divide it into two main focus areas - experiences and devices, and cloud and artificial intelligence platforms, CNBC reports.

New Engineering Teams Under Jha, the new Experiences & Devices team will be responsible for creating "a unifying product ethos across our end-user experiences and devices", particularly for mobile and multi-device users, according to Nadella.

The shift reflects what has been a larger move in the consumer and enterprise computing markets for Microsoft as the concept of desktop client and server software has given way to cloud services across multiple devices. Under Satya Nadella, Microsoft had been shifting its focus to cloud and AI platforms, leveraging AI through its Garage initiative. Scott Guthrie who now head the Cloud division will lead this second engineering group focused on cloud and AI technology including Azure. Myerson's departure also marks the end of WDG (Windows Devices Group) from the company's portfolio.

Experiences & Devices will cover Windows, Office 365, new technology, and enterprise management. But Microsoft's Azure cloud business is booming, as is the growing revenue from business software subscriptions like Office 365 and Dynamics 365. Cloud AI Platform Corporate VP Joseph Sirosh will join this new group, as well. Windows 10 Build 17634 is from the Redstone 5 branch and it comes with some improvements and as well as bug fixes.

"The objective of the Experiences & Devices team is to instill a unifying product ethos across our end-user experiences and devices", Nadella wrote. Foley further says Panos Panay will get a Chief Product Officer title but otherwise remains the head of Microsoft devices. Other parts are moving to Scott Guthrie's 'Cloud + AI' group. "He will work with me on the transition over the coming months", Nadella said.

New Experiences and Technology: Kudo Tsunoda will continue to lead this team to define how we engage users with high-value experiences to help them achieve more. "The objective of this team is to drive platform coherence and compelling value across all layers of the tech stack", the CEO wrote in an email to employees released by Microsoft.
