A draft political resolution, which is going to be taken up by the party Congress in April, has ruled out any understanding or alliance with the Congress party.

Yechury's stand on CPI-M tie-up with the Congress to take on the Bharatiya Janata Party was outvoted at the Central Committee meeting.

Though with 27 seats, the National People's Front (NPF) emerged as the single largest party, it failed to put together the simple majority mark of 31.

Sarma also dismissed the suggestion that the minorities, particularly the Christians in the northeast, were against the BJP, saying the community "wholeheartedly" supported the party. "It (voters' confidence in his party) is overwhelming and people are looking forward to a change", Rio said while speaking with NDTV news channel after he met state Governor P. B. Acharya to state claim to form the next government. "We thank the people of Tripura for giving us the opportunity to serve them for the past 25 years". A politburo member of CPI-M, he had been at the helm for the fourth consecutive time.

He alleged that the BJP has used both "money and muscle power in Tripura".

Before the elections, the BJP had broken its 15-year-old alliance with the Naga People's Front to tie up with the NDPP, which is headed by former Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio.

In Meghalaya, where it had no seat, the BJP not only opened its account but might muster a coalition to keep the Congress out of power through political manoeuvring, like it did in Manipur and Goa.

Election verdict for the three north-eastern states Nagaland, Tripura, and Meghalaya were declared earlier today.

"People of northeast and Tripura, in particular, have rejected corrupt and divisive politics of the Congress and the Communist Party of India (Marxist).it is now clear that Karnataka will also reject Congress for its corruption and divisive politics unleashed by Siddaramaiah", Yeddyurappa said in a statement in Bengaluru.

"Hindutva is the very strong basis of the BJP, and at some point this is going to lead to a crisis here", he said.

Deodhar had also worked as a national coordinator of the North-East India Communication Cell set up by Nitin Gadkari, when the latter was the BJP's national president. She said her seat sharing formula of 14 seats for TMC, 16 for local hill parties and the remaining 30 seats for Congress could have been a game-changer in Tripura, but Gandhi "supplied oxygen to the BJP" by doing nothing about it.

He said that his maiden visit to Meghalaya was as a pracharak and it lasted eight years and in November 2014, he was made incharge of Tripura.

I thank the people.

The BJP said on Saturday it and its allies have got full majority in Meghalaya, where results have thrown up a hung Assembly, and appointed Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju and Minister of State for Tourism K.J. Alphons as observers in the state.
