March Madness reveal gets a shake-up

Nantz, who's poised to call his 33rd NCAA Tournament for CBS, said it's best to leave the discussion to studio analysts who can spend more time on big-picture topics.

Now college basketball's other top conferences are heading into their tournaments. So if the Spartans are a two seed, MI basketball should be.

The 6-foot-10 forward, however, is expected to return to action in the SEC Tournament and should provide a boost to a team that still managed to play itself into the postseason picture despite its best player going down.

The Wolverines (28-7) are now ranked No. 7 in the AP Top 25. Sports Illustrated's Richard Deitsch reports that the network plans to reveal all 68 teams and their seedings within the first half of the two-hour show.

Duke's odds movement is a great example to illustrate how bookies are preparing for Selection Sunday on March 11.

The Volunteers rallied to beat Georgia 66-61 on Saturday to claim a share of their first Southeastern Conference regular-season title since 2008.

Jalen Brunson, Mikal Bridges and Villanova hopped over Xavier to reach No. 2 in Monday's poll, though Trevon Bluiett and the No. 3 Musketeers are the No. 1 seed in the Big East Tournament. One more win will likely seal a March Madness berth for the Orange, who are among Lunardi's next four out. Detroit is only 60 miles closer to West Lafayette, Ind., home of Purdue, than Nashville. Therefore, the SEC bubble teams will be rooting for the Hokies in that contest. The only exceptions have been the MAAC Tournament (won by No. 4 Iona), the NEC Tournament (won by No. 4 LIU), and the Big 10 Tournament (won by No. 5 MI, but that's less relevant here). After losing two of three in early January, the Spartans rolled into the Big Ten conference tournament with 13 straight wins before they fell to eventual champion and in-state rival MI.

Jon Teske's two-handed slam brought down the house and pretty much finished off No. 8 Purdue in the Big Ten Tournament championship game.

There was some significant upheaval in the SEC power structure in 2017-18, with Auburn (25-6) and Tennessee (23-7) sharing first place after being picked to finish ninth and 13th, respectively. That means every team in the bracket is beatable and nobody is a consensus favorite. Coupling this experience with its 16th-ranked strength of schedule in its pocket, this team is destined for a Final Four run. Perhaps it's unrealistic to expect Porter to come in and play at a high level despite the rust he'll undoubtedly be dealing with, but he was one of the most hyped players in the nation before the season for a reason. The Friars followed that upset with a 74-64 win over Georgetown to clinch their first Big East title.

Purdue, like all Big Ten teams, had stretches this season where it played four games in 10 days or five in a 13-day span. The Crimson Tide will be looking for him to raise his game to another level in these more meaningful games, though, as their season may well depend on it. He can score with the best of them, and a win or two in the conference tournament should safely secure St. Bonaventure's spot in the Big Dance - where Adams could legitimately lead the team to an upset or two. If Kentucky has multiple weapons rolling then they could easily make a run and win this event.

The NCAA March Madness Live streaming service is launching a new feature this year that will make following the first days of the tournament easier than ever.
