Assemblyman says NY should consider making Daylight Saving Time permanent

Some, like golfers and gardeners, enjoy the extra hour of sunlight after work to get more time outdoors.

We've finally found the issue that unites Democrats, Republicans and Independents. hatred of Daylight Saving Time. IN did not start observing daylight savings time until 2006. After the war, most states switched to observing DST in summer months, but there was no federal law on daylight saving time until 1966. Two other states, Hawaii and Arizona, have similar exemptions.

We all know what that means - December sunsets at 6 p.m., instead of 5 p.m. Kids waiting for school buses in the dark in the morning.

Arizona and Hawaii haven't observed daylight savings time since the late 1960s.

Some states thought of another way: ME thought up a little workaround to federal approval: Lawmakers there passed bills to simply move into a whole new time zone (Atlantic Standard Time) and then opt out of DST, which states can choose to do.

The Florida legislature, House and Senate, voted overwhelmingly in favor of asking Congress to let them end the biannual time change. By advocating for daylight saving time, he did not practice what he preached of "early to bed, early to rise".

The entire southern hemisphere: A few countries, mostly in South America, do observe daylight saving time.

Do you think it's important to change the clocks? But lawmakers in Florida and some New England states are exhausted of springing forward and falling back. That's good. Then again, researchers at the University of Alabama Birmingham reported in 2012 that the spring adjustment led to a 10% increase in heart attack risk. Cognizant of that, most of the New England states contemplating a change made it contingent on their neighbors' doing the same.

There may be some benefits to the time change, however.

Daylight Saving Time will end on November 4 when clocks will fall back one hour and sunrise will be at 6:52 a.m. and sunset will be at 5:27 p.m.
