No, we're not out of the woods yet in terms of unpleasant winter weather, Long Islanders.

Be sure to check back for the latest forecast this afternoon and even Saturday morning as we'll continue assessing the latest data and continue to refine snowfall expectations.

The weather service predicts snow Sunday morning and a mix of rain and snow overnight.

That snow arriving in the afternoon and evening will become steady as Saturday evening goes on and continue right into Sunday morning. Again, residents are asked to use caution while driving to work or school.

For now, the Weather Service is expecting a few inches of snow in the North Carolina mountains and a lighter amount of snow and sleet in northwest SC and the North Carolina foothills. There's a 20% we squeeze out a rain or snow shower between noon and 6pm, but those chances are quite low. It's a good bet that as we work into the first part of Sunday, snow will initially overspread our region.

After a spell of warmer weather expected during the day Thursday, cold, snowy, wintry weather re-enters Delmarva's forecast Thursday night and is expected to carry over into the weekend.

Tonight - Periods of rain. South southwest wind around 6 miles per hour. Night: Cloudy with 60 per cent chance of flurries. Total nighttime snow accumulation of around an inch possible.

Saturday: A 30 percent chance of showers, mainly after 3pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 46. Partly sunny, with a temperature falling to around 22 by 5 p.m. Wind chill values between 10 and 15.

Wednesday: Mostly cloudy with a 70% chance for rain/snow and a high near 40 degrees.

Today, the high will be near 39, making it the warmest day at least through Wednesday.

Saturday: Partly sunny. Highs in the mid 20s. There will be brisk NE winds for southern England and this will make it feel cold, so although it won't look too bad that wind will give a chill. Cold, fresh north winds keep going for the West Country so a chilly night here.
