Eyed up as a potential replacement for Emerson, last season Daley Blind impressed at United for his reliability as a utility player.

Italian giants Roma were said to be looking at Blind to replace Emerson Palmieri, who moved to Chelsea on Tuesday, but they have baulked at United's £13million asking price for the Holland worldwide.

Blind is now nursing an ankle injury, but the Daily Mail describes Roma as being "keen" to complete a deal before the January transfer window closes.

Manchester United have reportedly received an enquiry for out of favour defender Daley Blind from Serie A club AS Roma.

Blind has been linked with a deadline day move to Italy after being restricted to just three Premier League starts so far this season.

Corriere dello Sport have the most detail on it on Wednesday, explaining the two sides are working on a loan deal with a view to buy, although how much for isn't mentioned.

Roma and Manchester United are said to be now working on reaching an agreement, but based on the accelerated pace of this deal, it is certainly not beyond the realm of possibility that we see the 27-year old Ajax product finalise his move within the next day or two.

The 27-year old versatile Dutchman joined Manchester United in the summer of 2014 from AFC Ajax and had grown into an important player under then manager Louis van Gaal.

He was an immediate hit for United, with his intelligent play seeing him establish himself in a defensive midfield role. It would take a few days, maybe a week, but they are available a few hours.
