Jennifer Aniston has released a statement about her relationship with Brad Pitt

The statement announcing their split, which was released by Jennifer's long-time publicist, stated: "In an effort to reduce any further speculation, we have made a decision to announce our separation".

They were last pictured in public together at mutual friend Jason Bateman's Hollywood Walk Of Fame induction on July 25 a year ago. In a statement they made clear that they remain "two best friends who have chose to part ways as a couple, but look forward to continuing our cherished friendship".

Jennifer and Justin, 46 issued a statement via their publicist yesterday confirming they had gone their separate ways late a year ago. According to the statement, the couple meant to keep their decision private, but given that the gossip industry can not resist an opportunity to speculate and invent, they wanted to convey the truth directly. Whatever else is printed about us that is not directly from us, is someone else's fictional narrative. "Above all, we are determined to maintain the deep respect and love that we have for one another", the statement continues.

Despite their effort to avoid speculation, rumors were born.

The marriage was Theroux's first and Aniston's second. The couple has reportedly been busy with separate projects as well.

Page Six writes that Jen's "hatred of New York" was the reason their marriage ended. "They have figured out a life that works for them", a source just told People. But Justin doesn't feel as at home in LA, nor with Jennifer's friends. "It's an eclectic group and he doesn't have that type of network in LA".

Aniston's longtime publicist Stephen Huvane delivered the statement on behalf of the former couple, as reported by the Associated Press.

"Jason Bateman's wife convinced Justin to go to Cabo", the insider said. They're not stupid. They remember why it didn't work", the source said, adding, "They've been over each other for longer than they were ever together.

"He still cares about Jen a lot, and wants to make the process of splitting up as pain-free as possible".

So with the former flames both now single, the Twittersphere can't help to wonder if there could be hope of a romantic reunion.
