Bristol City hero Korey Smith is determined to produce another Carabao Cup shock when they play Manchester City on Tuesday night.

Lee Johnson's side have also beaten four Premier League sides on their way to their semi-final, including a magnificent 2-1 win over Manchester United at Ashton Gate last month.

Pep Guardiola's team have won 27 of 32 matches in all competitions this season and amassed 62 points from a possible 66 in 22 Premier League starts.

The Gunners crashed out of the FA Cup on Sunday afternoon, a competition that Arsene Wenger's men have dominated in recent years winning three of the last four finals.

"It's a positive thing being in more competitions", Gundogan told reporters after providing two assists for Sergio Aguero against Burnley. Great team result 4:1.

"We've played some good sides this season and done well and earned the right to play a team like City".

David Silva's unavailability due to personal reasons, coupled with City's busy festive schedule, has provided more opportunities in the City midfield for Gundogan, with the Germany worldwide keen to stake his claim for more regular first-team action.

"We play the first leg here at home, so, of course, we want to win that game".

Citizens boss Guardiola goes with Claudio Bravo in goal, while at the back he selects Nicolas Otamendi and John Stones as the central pairing. "If the schedule next season says you have to play every two days, then every two days we are going to play". So if a player is playing more, he's going to be happier.

"I'm happy he made the statement", said Guardiola.

Bristol City knocked out City's rivals Manchester United in the quarter-finals and Gundogan is taking nothing for granted, even though his side will be expected to reach the EFL Cup final. I was quite sure we were going to have so many games coming up and always have the opportunity for me to play, to get minutes, to get a rhythm.

"The feeling when that final whistle went against Man United was pretty insane, but it wasn't a huge shock that we beat them. We made changes, we've got to protect the team at the minute with injuries, and once they're in front, it's hard", he added. But despite all these facts, our aim is to beat them. "We can win everything, that's why we are here".
