Mariah Carey's New Year's Eve performance complaint takes internet by storm

Mariah Carey returned to the New Year's Eve stage on Sunday night, one year after her infamous performance fail, and had a simple request: some hot tea.

Some honchos connected to Dick Clark Productions tell us Mariah will be scrambling just before the clock strikes 12 during the Dick Clark Rockin' New Year's Eve show.

Last time the superstar singer took center stage for the "Rockin'" event, what followed was a disastrous set that ended with her giving up on the act while prerecorded vocals continued on without her. Carey later said that it left her "mortified".

"All I can say is Dick Clark was an incredible person and I was lucky enough to work with him when I first started in the music business", she told Entertainment Weekly a year ago.

Carey nailed a live rendition of "Vision of Love" without the aid of a backing track, just to prove to any doubters that she still has it. "Oh, it's a disaster". After, there was an awkward moment where she said something about hot tea and that she would rough it without her hot tea.

Fortunately, Mariah did end up getting her piping hot cup of tea ... and none was spilled.

Mariah braved the freezing cold weather in NY and performed three songs live.

"I'm feeling a lot better than previous year", she said, "when I had to get my own police escort".

Carey is known for being a diva and with her past reality programs, HSN shopping infomercials, and headline-worthy appearances has a reputation for being a woman who celebrates the luxuries in life.

Then when Carey made the transition into her second number - her 1991 hit Emotions - she paused to tell the audience: "We didn't have a (sound) check for this song, so we'll just say it went to No. 1 and that's what it is, okay?"

A year ago it really was a disaster.

The singer showed just a hint of her diva reputation after her first song.
