Kane, De Gea snubbed in 2017 UEFA Team of the Year

Amid talks of a current crisis at the club, Real Madrid are still reaping the awards for their successful 2017 with Zidane's side featuring strongly in the announcement of Uefa's flawless team of 2017 where no less than five Madrid players have been selected.

World's most expensive footballer, Neymar and the likes of David De Gea, Tottenham's record goalscorer Harry Kane and other hotshot Premier League stars like Paul Pogba and Sergio Aguero failed to make it to the UEFA team of the year 2017.

In a vote decided by 8.8 million fans, De Bruyne has been recognised for his role in Manchester City's stunning form so far this campaign, with the former Wolfsburg man establishing a reputation as one of the finest creative midfielders in world football at present.

The centre of midfield is being run by a Real Madrid axis of Toni Kroos and Luka Modric.

UEFA's official website announced the group, assembled in a fantasy Team of the Year, drawing on 8.8 million votes from fans worldwide.

The team also included three players from the Juventus team who lost the Champions League final to Real Madrid.

The top 11 includes superstars like Real Madrid's Cristiano Ronaldo and Barcelona's Lionel Messi.

Neymar might not have a place but his compatriot and PSG team-mate Dani Alves has been given a berth on the right.

Sergio Ramos was the most selected player overall, being chosen in 73.7% of the voters' teams, followed by his teammate Marcelo, who appeared in 70% of the best XIs.
