Hold on! Trump makes everyone wait on 'Fake News Awards'

"I will be announcing THE MOST DISHONEST & CORRUPT MEDIA AWARDS OF THE YEAR on Monday at 5:00 o'clock", Trump said in a late-night tweet. "The interest in and importance of, these awards is far greater than anyone could have anticipated".

The commander-in-chief tweeted last week they'd be given out Monday and "cover Dishonesty & Bad Reporting in various categories from the Fake News Media".

The Daily Show with Trevor Noah placed a full-page advert in the New York Times on Friday featuring quotes from negative reviews created to appeal to Trump. "Stay tuned!" he said.

The president vented in late November that a contest should be held for the worst political coverage, excluding Fox News.

Kimmel, more circumspect, expressed doubt that anyone in the media would actually receive an award. "I don't think so".

Cheri Angel responded: "I can hardly wait".

In an email to his supporters on December 28, the Trump campaign sought nomination for the "King of Fake News" trophy.

"The Failing New York Times has a new publisher, A.G. Sulzberger".

Colbert also tweeted he was "so excited" for Trump's announcement, and he looked forward to seeing CNN host Anderson Cooper "on the red carpet".

It also says the Trump campaign did not expect to win the United States election and Trump himself was "befuddled" by the result, that he was angry A-list stars snubbed his inauguration, and that he found the White House "scary".
