Four powerlifters died in a road accident caused due to dense fog

"The incident came to light after we received information from passerby regarding accident near Singhu Border at around 4.14 am on Sunday".

In a shocking incident that took place in New Delhi, four powerlifters were killed when their auto met with an accident near the Singhu border in outer Delhi's Alipur area on Sunday morning.

Powerlifting gold medallist Saksham Yadav, 24, and four others died on Sunday after his sedan crashed into a divider and then an electric pole on a highway that leads to a popular breakfast destination after a night of partying in Delhi.

Four players died while Yadav and another weightlifter were seriously injured. Saksham Yadav and Rohit were rushed to Max Hospital in Delhi's Shalimar Bagh. While Rohit, one of the victims who suffered grievous injuries was taken to LNJP Hospital where his condition is stated to be out of danger. "He has internal bleeding in the head", said a senior doctor at AIIMS.

"The vehicle, according to the official, first hit a divider and then crashed into an electricity pole".

Police are also probing the angle of drunken driving. Some liquor bottles have been found in the auto hinting towards a possibility of drunken driving.

Police said that they were driving towards Karnal in Haryana after the birthday celebrations of one of the occupants of the auto.

"Prima facie, the vehicle was at very high speed".

Such was the impact of the crash that the auto - a Maruti Swift Dzire with registration number DL4CAU 9585 - rolled over several times before coming to a stop.
