Sure, Dark Souls III is the "big closure" to the series, but Miyazaki never ruled out FromSoft revisiting earlier games in the series since remastering games is all the rage these days. Dark Souls II was already given the remaster treatment for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 back in 2014, under the subtitle Scholar of the First Sin.

Announced at this afternoon's Nintendo Direct Mini, Dark Souls: Remastered aims to let players "experience the rich world of Dark Souls in upscaled 4K resolution with 60FPS", so says the game's publisher in a statement. It appears that Dark Souls Remastered will port on Nintendo first, and then release for all other platforms.

And that does not even include folks like me who own Dark Souls but will actually stick with it and try to finish it when it's on the Switch.

Also coming to Switch this spring is a new Mario Tennis game.

There's a bucket load of updated and ported Nintendo games coming to the Switch, from DS titles The World Ends with You: Final Remix and Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition, to PC bank robbery game Payday 2 and Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana, the PC, PS4 and PlayStation Vita game.

Dark Souls: Remastered will run $40 and will be up for grabs May 25. Players could also appear in each others' games to either help or hinder each others' progress, maintaining a community of dedicated players that is still active seven years later. And a demo of the Minecraft-meets-Dragon Quest game Dragon Quest Builders is now out for Switch owners to take for a whirl. DSR will include everything from the PS3/360 version, along with its Artorias of the Abyss expansion, for a slightly cheaper launch price of $39.99. Also included is the soundtrack to all three games spread across six discs, ten art prints with a frame, and three item dictionaries which come with descriptions for every item found in the Dark Souls series.
