The low Thursday and Friday nights plunges to 10 degrees.

2018 got off to a frigid start in Chicago as much of the area is under a Wind Chill Warning or Wind Chill Advisory. The Wind Chill Advisory has been expanded to include all of Rhode Island (except for Block Island) and all of Southeastern Massachusetts.

On top of the cold temperatures we'll be dealing with bitter cold wind chill reading while out celebrating New Year's Eve. Frostbite is a major concern this morning as you can begin to experience symptoms in 15 minutes or less.

The National Weather Service has wind chill advisories in effect across in on New Year's Eve. Wind chills across Kansas will range from 10 to 25 degrees below zero.

Tuesday morning could see another record cold morning but some clouds moving in could keep temperatures from dropping as low as we have seen in previous mornings.

Wednesday will feature mostly sunny skies and highs in the mid-30s. Snow is looking more likely, but exact amounts will be fine tuned as Thursday approaches. Temperatures will be in the teens at midnight, including in the city, with a wind chill in the low single digits.

"We've been watching it for a while and it seems like as the week progressed, the temperatures dropped", said general manager Steve Uhl.
