Constables Parvez Ahmad, Ghulam Nabi and Mohammad Amin each had a three or four-year-old child.Less than a week ago, Jaish suicide attackers had stormed a CRPF camp in south Kashmir's Pulwama, killing five CRPF men including an inspector.

The IED blast killed 4 cops.

According to police sources three shops were also damaged in the blast.

"The Shaheed Afzal Guru squad carried out the attack", JeM spokesperson said. "May the four courageous J&K police personnel killed in the line of duty today rest in peace", Abdullah tweeted.

The policemen were patrolling the area in view of a separatist-sponsored strike there.

Former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah also expressed sorrow over the deaths.

A senior police official in Sopore said the attack seemed to be a planned operation because of the expected deployment of police on the Sopore massacre anniversary.
