Now Microsoft's Cortana does have a few smart speaker and thermostat wins, but its distribution is flooded by Alexa as well as Google Assistant.

Later this year you will see Amazon's Alexa available on thousands of machines, adding to already hundreds of thousands (if not millions) of Alexa-enabled devices.

So also Amazon's Alexa assistant is supported on a bevy of Amazon Echo branded smart speakers, and speakers from Sonos, LG and ironically Harmon Kardon (not to mention support for cars, smart home devices and so on and so forth). The latest big development is an announcement that Acer, Asus, HP and Lenovo are all planning on adding Alexa to some of their Windows 10 laptops and desktops.

However, Stanton warns Amazon could use Alexa to sell more products through Windows.

From the first look, Pavilion Wave Wave with Alexa for Windows looks like a speaker with a custom LED to indicate Alexa and its state at the top.

Amazon's digital assistant Alexa is expected to become more ubiquitous than ever in 2018.

Google Assistant, meanwhile, has expanded from Android devices to Google Home speakers and third-party devices, as well. On the other hand, it also wants Cortana to be in your vehicle, and on your smart speaker, and to run on your Android phone and iPhone (but mostly the former). and Windows PC. The rollout of the Alexa-Cortana integration, announced past year, has been delayed but is expected to start soon.

This could get awkward for Microsoft and Amazon. Users will be able to control the projector after enabling the Acer Projector Smart Home skill by asking Alexa compatible Acer PC, "Alexa, turn on the projector", "Alexa, select HDMI as the projector source", or "Alexa, change projector display mode to bright". "Voice is a natural interface for interacting with technology and can make everyday tasks simpler", said Steve Rabuchin, Vice President of Amazon Alexa in ASUS' press release. Acer's Spin 5 and Switch 7 Black Edition notebooks will include four microphones to support far-field voice recognition for Alexa up to nine feet away. Some of the new devices will use Intel's Smart Sound Technology, an integrated audio DSP, for improved audio, voice, and speech interactions with Alexa. This app will be available in later months.

The advent of Alexa for Business combined with these integrations could help to set Alexa up as a key business tool.
