Winter Weather Advisory 12-28-17

Temperatures will be cold today with highs in the mid 20s and lows of about 15 tonight.

The Winter Weather Advisory was issued because travel conditions will be hazardous.

By midnight most of the snow has moved east into Ohio. Total snow accumulations of 20 to 24 inches, with localized amounts up to 43 inches in terrain above 5,000 feet. Snow will begin to pass through after the sunrise, and it is expected to last throughout the afternoon and early evening.

Road conditions could be slippery and visibility could also be reduced at times. Temperatures will be in the teens by the 1 p.m. kickoff, and we'll have a brisk breeze out of the northwest nearing 20 miles per hour, making for wind chills in the lower single digits.

It will be brutally cold New Year's Eve with wind chills to -20º! Temperatures are forecasted to reach only a high near 18 and drop to the single-digits by evening. Arctic air stays in place all next week, with subzero wind chills every morning.

The sub-freezing temperatures are expected to hang around all week.
