Fisher was in his eighth year as FSU's head coach with an 83-23 overall record.

According to ESPN, Texas A&M officials have approved a 10-year, $75 million contract for Fisher, which is the richest deal in college football history in terms of total value.

Fisher has been a coach at Florida State for the last 11 seasons, including the last eight as the head coach.

Fisher took over for legend Bobby Bowden prior to the 2010 season after spending three seasons with the program as offensive coordinator/coach-in-waiting.

Defensive line coach Odell Haggins will coach Florida State (5-6) on Saturday.

"Evidently he feels like that's the right move for him and his family and the right time to do so", Swinney said at an ACC title game news conference. "I know he did an unbelievable job at Florida State".

Texas A&M has not made any formal announcement about hiring a replacement for Kevin Sumlin, who was sacked last week. This is a business that's very public, as we all know, and from time to time, you have to make decisions.

"Jimbo's a great football coach and my hope would be that he stays at Florida State University, but if he has other opportunities that are more valuable to him and his family, then I certainly understand that", Thrasher said. We have the player and fan reaction. I don't get in to the rumors and the rumor mill.

Now, it appears that Oregon's Willie Taggart and Virginia Tech's Justin Fuente have both emerged as legitimate possibilities to fill Fisher's shoes.
