The devotees in all the churches lauded the communal brotherhood of Kashmir and prayed for peace and prosperity in Kashmir.

Bhubaneswar: The spirit of Christmas has gripped the capital city Bhubaneswar with people, irrespective of race and religion, indulging in the festive fervour.

Special cakes were cut and candies were distributed among the devotees.

"Celebrating Christmas in Kashmir is a special occasion as people from across the world visit here during winter and come to churches and celebrate Christmas", said Father Roy of All Saints Catholic Church MA Road in Srinagar. Similar arrangements have been made at a number of places across the state.

The celebrations this time were more upbeat compared to a year ago. "Christ was born for us, to save us from our sins, the least we can do is come on His day of birth and celebrate with Him and celebrate with our church family", says Pastor Flynn.

"A member of an NGO told Rising Kashmir that they are trying to spread a global message of peace and love among all communities of the Valley".

"We are now stepping up tourism promotion by visiting many cities across the country too for tourism seminars, road shows", he said.

On the occasion, Secretary Tourism Sarmaad Hafeez addressed the gathering and said, "The department was organising cultural events and adventure sports activities to entertain tourists and to engage locals".

As Christmas is being celebrated with fervour and gaiety across the world and India, celebrations are witnessed in Hyderabad as well.
