Netflix announced Friday that the popular supernatural series, 'Stranger Things, ' would return for a third season.

That said, should the popularity of Stranger Things continue to skyrocket-and those involved continue to be interested-it's possible the series could run beyond four seasons.

There is not a set release date of the third season of Stranger Things, though we would expect updates on that to be available within the next couple of months.

Both seasons hold a 94 percent "fresh" rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and Season 1 picked up five Emmy Awards out of 18 nominations.

"Even if we wanted to hop into the action faster, we couldn't", Matt Duffer previously explained to the outlet.

There were a lot of questions left unanswered at the end of season two and we're excited to see how the story develops and we finally get the answers we crave. "Though I don't know if we can justify something bad happening to them once a year".

"It provides certain challenges", he added. But what I like is that it makes you evolve the show.

According to Nielsen, an audience measurement company, around 15.8 million viewers tuned in to watch the first episode of the show's second season within the first three days of its October 27 launch. Instead, as Matt explained, the show will just evolve and change with the kids.
