On Friday, Onslow County Sheriff Hans Miller said he was "overwhelmed" by the outpouring of support from the community and nearby military members, who came out to assist in the search for Mariah.

Earl Kimrey, 32, was taken into custody Friday as authorities gathered evidence leading them to believe Mariah Woods is dead, KTLA sister station WGHP reported.

The Jacksonville, N.C., girl went missing late Saturday, prompting her father, Alex Woods, to question his ex-wife's statement about the girl's whereabouts.

Kimrey is charged with concealing of death, obstruction of justice, burglary, theft, and possessing stolen property.

Kimrey is being held on a more than one million dollar bond. Additional charges could be pending as the investigation continues.

Arrest warrants obtained by CBS North Carolina report Kimrey obstructed justice by, "removing Mariah Woods' body from the scene of her death and did hide Mariah Woods' death and body, knowing that Mariah Woods died from unnatural causes".

Authorities have been scanning the area and searching for Woods since her disappearance.

The FBI said it has been sending "items of interest" to its lab in Quantico, Virginia, for priority testing in the case. The FBI later said the woman in the picture did not have any connection to their ongoing investigation to find Mariah.

Kimrey allegedly "failed to notify a law enforcement authority of the death of Mariah Woods, and secretly disposed of the dead child's body", according to the warrant.

"We put every resource we have into finding Mariah, to bring her home safely", he told reporters.

Authorities have arrested a man in connection with the disappearance of a 3-year-old North Carolina girl. "Nobody heard anything? Four people in the house, two adults and two kids someone just comes up and snatches the baby and walks out?" She has been missing from her home since Monday. "She's my baby, she's my everything", said Kristy Woods in a press conference.
