After the meeting the women and the Indian diplomat left the premises amidst questions pouring from the Pakistan media.

"I had requested for a meeting with my wife on humanitarian grounds and I have been informed that my mother and my wife are coming over to meet me and I am really thankful to the government of Pakistan for showing this grand gesture".

Jadhav's family plans to return home soon after the meeting, which is expected last an hour, according to Pakistani foreign ministry officials.

The meeting ended around 3:40 pm. The family is expected to take a flight to New Delhi via Oman.

Another relative, who spoke to this newspaper, said he hoped Pakistan would free Kulbhushan.

It was in November that Pakistan finally decided that it will allow Jadhav's wife to meet him. He is once again seen repeating his so-called confession.

Aziz also detailed how Jadhav's confessional video statement was done on 25 March, 2016, a good three weeks after he was apprehended.

The meeting reportedly took place for around 30 minutes.

The MoFA also showed Jadhav's medical report and claimed he was in excellent health.

After the meeting, the Pakistani Foreign Office continued with its media blitzkrieg. "Jadhav is a spy and terrorist".

"Pakistan has honoured all its commitments".

In the undated video, Jadhav says: "I am Commander Kulbhushan Jadhav, number 4155 Zulu of the Indian Navy". If we had allowed him to speak or listen to Jadhav, it would have come under the issue of consular access. "We did not do this to win a case; nor will this have any impact on the case", he said.

He made it a point to identify Jadhav, a former Indian Navy officer, with his military title. "Jadhav, who is a serving naval officer, has confessed to being a R&AW agent", the Pakistan foreign office spokesperson said. "Until he is brought back, our campaign will continue", said Sachin Kale, another of Jadhav's friends. It was an open meeting, we are looking forward to a statement from Jadhav's family, Kale added. The communication between them was through an intercom device. "On the other hand, the way in which role unfolded was deeply unsatisfactory".

The FO spokesperson said Pakistan would have preferred if Jadhav's wife and mother had spoken to Pakistani media.

The mother and wife of alleged Indian spy Kulbhushan Jadhav met the death row prisoner at the Pakistan Foreign Office here on Monday amid tight security.

Jadhav was at the ministry before his family arrived. Speaking to ANI, Major General (retired) GD Bakshi said, "Today the spokesperson of Pakistan's foreign ministry was acting like he is the reincarnation of Mother Teresa".
