The Eagles next face the New York Giants this Sunday before a Christmas Day game against the Oakland Raiders and a season finale against the Dallas Cowboys on December 31.

Philadelphia Eagles fans are having a hard time processing the sudden loss of starting quarterback Carson Wentz, who suffered a season-ending torn ACL on Sunday against the Rams. It's just been the next-man-up mentality and that's going to continue.

The Philadelphia Eagles' star quarterback Carson Wentz used a season-ending injury on Sunday to reassure well-wishers that his tribulations are part of God's bigger plan. He initially remained in the game after taking hits on a touchdown run that was called back, but he was evaluated by trainers after scoring on a fourth-down throw to Alshon Jeffery and was later ruled out. Tackle Andrew Whitworth also suffered an ankle injury.

"We still have something special", Wentz said.

Elliott kicked a 54-yarder, but the Eagles got an automatic first down on a personal foul on Aaron Donald. "And, you know if there's ever an opportunity for me as a head football coach to rally the troops, you know now might be the time".

After starting all 16 games as a rookie, Wentz made a giant leap this year.

Even with the two teams going in opposite directions this season, it's a little surprising to see the spread that high after learning Wentz would be out for the year.

Despite Kaepernick's controversial position in the National Football League world, many Philadelphia fans immediately considered the former 49ers signal caller as a solid player to bring in after the loss of Wentz. "He's a veteran player who has played and won a lot of games".

"He's a highly intelligent football player", Pederson said. "I said, 'If our team is good enough to do this, which I think we are, he'll do his part.' So I just tried to show confidence in Jeff, and I had confidence in him". Pederson said he hasn't spoken to personnel boss Howie Roseman about adding a third quarterback yet.
