Despite the hard-fought win over the previously fourth-ranked team in the nation, the Buckeyes fell just short of a spot in the playoff.

With Clemson more than likely holding onto the number one spot in the rankings, No. 3 Oklahoma (12-1, 9-1 Big 12) will likely move into second place in the final playoff rankings, revealed on Sunday, Dec. 3.

It was the Buckeyes' second Big Ten title in the seven-year history of the event.

Moving somewhat gingerly in the pocket, the senior signal-caller tossed a pair of interceptions-including a first-quarter pick-six and a costly third-quarter duck that flipped field position and paved the way for the Badgers to trim the deficit to 24-21 with 12:39 remaining in the fourth.

It's one of the most famous quotes in football, which has been attributed at one time or another to Woody Hayes, former Texas coach Darrell Royal, former Michigan State coach Duffy Daugherty and even long-ago Tennessee coach Robert Neyland.

Barrett completed just 12 of his 26 pass attempts for 211 yards, rushing for 60 yards and another score. on 19 attempts six days after undergoing surgery to fix a knee injury suffered in Ohio State's victory over MI.

The third choice would be that a team proves it is exactly what it was during the regular season in a bad way. Then Ohio State's Sean Nuernberger pushed the lead back to 11 points with a 27-yard field goal.

Ohio State: Barrett and QB Dwayne Haskins. His touchdown immediately followed Dobbins's 77-yard run, a sprint that set the Buckeyes single-season freshman rushing record, breaking the mark Maurice Clarett had set in 2002.

The first three spots in the College Football Playoff are certainties. The Buckeyes are a tad bit less impressive as they are allotting 19.8 points to their points as well as 291.8 yards. Both teams definitely feel the adrenaline pumping. The abandonment of the run game combined with some easy missed throws by Barrett, including a tipped-ball interception, allowed the Badgers to claw their way back into the game.

The combination of Wisconsin's defense and the questions around Barrett's knee might make this one more of a low-scoring game.

And unlike Ohio State, the Nittany Lions and the Cardinal each had one loss by single digits.

The play with 6:31 left in the first quarter capped a 96-yard drive, the longest in terms of yards in Big Ten championship game history.

Terry McLaurin caught an 84-yard touchdown pass from Barrett to open the scoring.

Wisconsin freshman Jonathan Taylor, the Big Ten's most productive rusher this season, managed only 41 yards for an offense that seemed more interested in trying to go around the Ohio State defense than through it.
