Mill was previously in jail for eight months and on probation for five years due to a 2008 conviction for gun and drug charges.

Born and raised in Philly, Meek Mill grew a local following in the hip-hop scene before gaining national recognition.

A Philly judge sentenced the popular rapper to 2 to 4 years in prison for violating probation in the almost decade-old case.

After a judge sentenced rapper Meek Mill to prison for a probation, a petition asking Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf to "save Meek Mill" began circulating online Tuesday.

In his mugshot from the state prison in Graterford, Montgomery County, Mill is seen in a yellow prison outfit, staring straight at the camera. According to TMZ, prison officials won't release the name of the prison he will be serving his sentence until he arrives due to security concerns. "It is highly unusual for a judge to show up at community service", she says. Yesterday, one of his lawyers, Joe Tacopina, accused Meek's judge of "inappropriate" acts.

A spokesman for Tacopina, however, said he did not know if a Tacopina had filed a complaint against the judge with the state Judicial Conduct Board, or meant to. In 2016, Mill was placed under 90 days of house arrest for violating probation due to unapproved travel. The only people in the meeting other than the judge and court stenographer were Mill and his then-girlfriend, hip-hop superstar Nicky Minaj; DeSimone; and Assistant District Attorney Noel A. DeSantis.

When the cameraman informs T.I. about the whole "Boyz-2-Men" incident (in which the judge reportedly asked Meek to cover Boyz-2-Men, shouting her out in the process), he replies with incredulity, chuckling at the ridiculousness of it all.

Brinkley said the prosecutor was too new to the case to understand how Mill just "does what he wants". "Maybe she felt scorned that he didn't add her in a song that she may have requested for". On Wednesday, Gabriel Roberts, a spokesman for the Philadelphia court system, issued a statement on her behalf saying, "because this matter is subject to future litigation, there will be no comment at this time". At the time, he threw himself on the mercy of the court, telling Brinkley, "I'm human, I'm not ideal".
