Ehlinger followed with a 5-yard completion to sophomore wide receiver Collin Johnson, then found graduate transfer tight end Kendall Moore for a 16 yards to the Red Raider 27.

After a season that would cost a majority of Head Coach's their job, Kliff Kingsbury will remain at the helm for the Texas Tech Red Raiders, per athletic directory Kirby Hocutt.

The 38-year-old has been coaching the Red Raiders since 2013.

Carter has nine passing attempts for Texas Tech this season, though two of those went for touchdowns.

Typically a scoring machine, the Red Raiders offense collapsed last week in a 27-3 home loss against TCU and one of the Big 12's best defenses.

"Everybody in the entire locker room loves the man", said quarterback Nic Shimonek of Kingsbury. The Longhorns ran for just 18 yards and had deep drives end in field goals of 19 and 20 yards by Josh Rowland instead of touchdowns. But Tech had made a bowl just once in the last three years, and the coach's seat was considered hot coming into the season.

"I love Texas Tech", said Kingsbury. "Always have".

Junior cornerback Kris Boyd guided the defensive effort with an interception and a career-high five pass breakups, one shy of the UT single-game record, to go along with six tackles. But the Red Raiders intercepted a pass at the Texas Tech 31 and returned it 55 yards to the UT 14.

Texas: The loss will make for a bitter off period before the bowl game.

"We are dead set in making it our mission in life in making sure these seniors go out with a positive experience and a win in a bowl game, wherever that may be, and give us some momentum in the offseason", Herman said.

Texas regained the lead on the next play, as Young burst through the line and bowled over a defender at the 2-yard line before running it into the end zone for a 17-10 Texas lead with 6:41 left to play in the second quarter.

Texas Tech lead the Big 12 in forced turnovers and got four in the second half with two fumble recoveries and the two big interceptions.

The Red Raiders (6-0) never trailed after scoring the game's first eight points, a stretch capped by Justin Gray's dunk after he had already made two free throws and had a tip-in basket.
