The third-year quarterback sat out the second half of Sunday's 30-10 loss to the New Orleans Saints after being sacked late in the second quarter and landing on the shoulder he initially hurt at Arizona on October 15.

Fitzpatrick will make his first start of the season against the team he started 27 games for from 2015-17. The Bucs are 2-6 and effectively eliminated from NFC South contention; Ryan Fitzpatrick will now be running the show in Tampa.

Winston required X-rays and an MRI after Sunday's loss to the Saints for the AC joint sprain in his throwing shoulder along with a rear deltoid issue, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

After a 384 yard, three touchdown passing game against the Buffalo Bills, Winston threw for 210 yards and no touchdowns at home against the Carolina Panthers.

Fitzpatrick, 34, completed 8 of 15 passes for 68 yards and a touchdown in relief of Winston on Sunday. Evans will be subject to league discipline for the event, but Winston defended his reaction after Lattimore pushed him.

Sunday was a remarkable day, and not in a good way, for the Tampa Bay quarterback.

Jameis Winston warming up before Sunday's game at New Orleans. Still, Koetter felt he had to rest his franchise QB until the joint healed better with more rest. But if the Bucs keep losing, the smart move - especially in light of Andrew Luck's two-year shoulder pain landing him on IR this season for the Indianapolis Colts - might be to shut Winston down entirely for 2017.
