"There were talks to play the series in November, but due to unforeseen weather, we didn't take a risk so we will start our first series from March next year followed by the one in the United States of America", said Sethi.

Windies are set to play a three-match Twenty20 series in Pakistan in March and April next year, it was announced on Saturday.

Confirming the news, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Najam Sethi said that it has signed an agreement with Cricket West Indies (CWI) under which the two sides would play a T20I series each year in Pakistan and in US for the next five years.

It is a very happy moment for Pakistan that after nearly 8 years, an global team is coming for playing a full series. "So I am hopeful that this ends the whole speculation around cricket in Pakistan".

The regional team was expected to visit the Pakistan city of Lahore later this month, but saw the tour postponed after the region became enveloped in smog.

There is certain news around about a T20 series between Pakistan and West Indies in November. We hope it will be one of the best series in Pakistan for both teams. The third participant is yet to be finalised. The series will comprise three T20 matches on March 29, 31, and April 1 and all the matches will be played in Lahore.

Pakistan had largely been shunned by global teams for the past eight years due to security concerns following an attack by gunmen on the bus carrying the Sri Lankan team in 2009.
