This can only mean one thing: war.

All the major players have been introduced, the stage has been set, and Marvel has finally debuted the first look at what fan can expect from Avengers: Infinity War in the first trailer for the new film, which opens on May 4, 2018.

"Can Earth's Mightiest Heroes put aside their differences and unite once more?"

"So when they needed us, we could fight the battles...", says Thor (Chris Hemsworth).

Thanos is on the march, his deadly order of converts have joined his side and the Infinity Stones are waiting.

The Avengers will assemble again in May. With storylines that feature multiple heroes including the aforementioned alter ego of billionaire Tony Stark, as well as personalities like Captain America and the Hulk, the Avengers series is now gearing up for the next chapter in its saga, presenting fans with a almost two-and-a-half minute trailer that dropped earlier today. While Marvel is promising that Avengers 4, which shot back to back with the third flick, will forever alter their cinematic universe, it's the third film that builds upon the foundation laid before it by nearly two dozen films. Granted, it's hard to gauge Groot's actual height from this photo alone, but we'd wager that he's now of similar stature to Gamora (Zoe Saldana) or Mantis (Pom Klementieff), which will only spell all kinds of mayhem for the Guardians going forward. As Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige recently told Vanity Fair, the grand Avengers "finale" will take place in the as-yet-untitled Avengers 4, slated for May 2019.

It's everything we pretty much knew from articles explaining the story that Marvel is trying to bring to film. Before we continue, just go ahead and watch the trailer first.
