Thibaut Courtois is ready to shelve talks over a new contract as the uncertainty over his Chelsea future intensified on Tuesday.

And speaking ahead of Wednesday's Champions League outing, Courtois said: "We have so many games at the moment, and I prefer to focus on the team's games, my own performances".

The Belgian goalkeeper has confirmed that there have been no new developments over his contract with Chelsea and he is set to enter the final 12 months of his contract next summer.

Courtois has been Chelsea's number one goalkeeper since returning from three years on loan at Atletico Madrid in the summer of 2014 and has developed into one of Europe's best stoppers since leaving Genk in 2011. Real, however, are also monitoring 27-year-old David De Gea's situation at Manchester United. Talks, the Belgium global said, will not recommence until the end of the season.

"The thing for me, the most important thing, is to perform well for myself and the team", Courtois told Goal.

And the Champions League holders have been dealt a boost in their chase of the Blues shot-stopper this evening, after Courtois revealed that he has put contract talks at Stamford Bridge on hold until the end of the season.

Despite the fact Courtois already earns £200,000 per week at Stamford Bridge, Lewis wrote he could double those wages with Real, while a move to Atletico would see him return to a familiar setting where he's already had good fortune.

The Belgium worldwide has enjoyed plenty of success during his time in London, winning two Premier League titles and the league cup.
