Google on Monday announced that its YouTube TV service is expanding to new devices. It was pretty odd that Google didn't launch YouTube TV on their TV platform. YouTube TV is only available in select markets but Google has slowly been rolling it out to new markets. It will be launched on smart TVs by LG, Samsung, Sony, and the Apple TV in the coming weeks. Now with YouTube TV's expansion, Google is eying on leveraging the platform to other means.

Of course, one of the biggest drawbacks with YouTube TV is that it's still not available everywhere in the U.S. But that's quickly changing.

As you'd expect, the TV app will carry over much of the mobile experience, but designed for a larger screen. "We were trying to get people to grok that this is TV that lives on your phone, a cloud DVR, all of the above", Oestlien said. The tech giant launched the YouTube TV in April this year, and since then the company has been working towards extending its reach. There's now no set release date, but Google says YouTube TV on Xbox One and other devices will land in "the next few days". Once rolled out, subscribers will have more options and places to watch the streaming service.

YouTube TV is Google's answer to live TV services like Sling TV, PlayStation Vue, Hulu, and more. The app includes a variety of new features, such as the ability to pick up where you left off with a program on another streaming device and a "background playback" feature that allows you to search through different streaming titles while the live programming you were watching continues to play in the background.
