A woman's fearless antics went viral after footage showed her picking up a shark, wrestling with and before and throwing it back into the sea.

Hatheier told the Today Show that her mother called her from Sydney's Cronulla beach, telling her there was a shark in the Oak Park Rock Pool and that she had already called the Police.

The shark was a Port Jackson shark, said to be harmless to humans.

You're going for a quick dip in an ocean pool and you catch sight of a shark in the water: what do you do? "I saw it and it was just a little Port Jackson so I just thought I should chuck him out".

Sydney resident Melissa Hatheier was swimming in a bay near Melbourne, when she stumbled upon a shark.

She added, "I was thinking I just need to put him back where he is meant to be". "I just helped the shark relocate to the ocean".

Melissa Hatheier picked up the shark with her bare hands and tossed it back into the ocean on Monday. I then grabbed him by the neck so he couldn't swing around and bite me. I started to swim around him and he became a bit stressed and started to knock his head on the rocks. "I wasn't really scared but I wouldn't have done it with a great white [shark]".

Hatheier has been dubbed "the shark wrangler" by her office colleagues.

Her video, since being posted on October 10, has collected over 1.3 lakh views, some 1,200 reactions and more than 1,000 shares.
