As Amazon Studios began executing on Bezos' mandate this summer, Price became the subject of sexual harassment allegations first reported on business website The Information in August. In Price's absence, Amazon Studios COO Albert Cheng was named interim president, and sources say he is expected to remain in the role has head of the studio.

Since Price's suspension last week, it appeared to be a foregone conclusion that he would not return to Amazon. Amazon has yet to comment on Price's resignation.

But Price's wedding has already been a casualty.

The harassment accusations stemmed from an incident in 2015.

Hackett told THR reporter Kim Masters that she reported the improper behavior to Amazon at the time.

Price was also a figure in the growing scandal around disgraced Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein, who has been accused of multiple acts of sexual harassment and rape dating back decades.

He said on Twitter that McGowan claimed she told Price about the alleged rape but had been told it "hadn't been proven".

In a statement last week, Amazon said it was reviewing options for projects it has with the Weinstein company.

The news comes after Price was placed on a "on leave of absence effective immediately".

In another development on Tuesday, Harvey Weinstein resigned from the board of the Weinstein Co., which is struggling to stay afloat.
