Xiaomi Mi Notebook Pro vs Macbook Pro: Pricing and Specs Comparison

While it's debatable as to how similar-looking the Mi Notebook Pro and the MacBook Pro are (naming convention aside), Xiaomi wasn't exactly helping by dedicating a keynote slide to mocking the lack of mainstream ports on Apple's machine. It packs an all metal body with aluminium alloy and magnesium alloy chassis. The design has a few upgrades internally, with a special cooling system featuring larger heat pipes and sinks, expanded fans, thereby making sure that the laptop temperature is controlled at all times.

15-6 inch display with thin-bezels and unknown resolution. The Notebook offers up to 16GB of 2400MHz DDR4 RAM, and an up to 256GB PCIe SSD. Gone are the days where you would have to rely on just two cores because Intel's latest lineup gives you command at 4 cores and 8 threads. The laptop weighs around 1.95 kg - and there's only one colour option available - dark gray. The Mi Notebook Pro was announced at Xiaomi's event in China today. Xiaomi was also keen to point out the 1.5mm key travel on its backlit full-size keyboard, and admittedly, I've yet to get used to the shallow key travel on my new MacBook Pro since its arrival two weeks ago. The screen is protected by Corning's Gorilla Glass 3 and seems rather durable, in addition to being able to display around 72 percent of the NTSC color gamut.

The GeForce MX150 graphics can handle 4K output, via the USB Type-C port, up to 60Hz and up to 30Hz via HDMI. The laptop has fans to maintain the temperature. Besides, it also comes with a Harman Infinity custom built speakers and Dolby Atmos certification.

Trackpad also features a fingerprint scanner, thus allowing authentication for Windows Hello. "The forthcoming laptop will also sport a 16.5" 1080p display (it is unclear what kind of panel Xioami will be deploying within the Mi Laptop Pro). It is priced at 5,599 Yuan (Rs 54,900/$859).

The Core i5 processor and 8GB RAM variant is priced at 5699 Chinese Yuan ($874 or RS. 55,883 approx). Taking at a dig at apple, it comes with a sd card reader, USB type c ports and USB 3.0 ports.
