Windows 10 Fall Creators Update confirmed for 17 October release

The Fall Creators Update for Windows 10 will be available on 17 October. Last month, it moved testers onto separate programmes so it could ensure a stable version when Fall Creators Update was ready for release.

Lenovo did leak the release date earlier today in a press release, but edited the release afterwards to remove the date from it. Smart Ink uses artificial intelligence to inking, allowing people to draw more ideal squares or turn boxes into a table.

Other new Windows 10 features include a refreshed Photos app and the capacity to save files up to the cloud using Microsoft's OneDrive service, without consuming local storage space.

We have reimagined our Photos Application to deliver remixed experiences for telling your stories with photos, videos, music, 3D, and even inking. Microsoft has announced a line-up of Xbox Play Anywhere games including, Cuphead, Forza Motorsport 7, Super Lucky's Tale and Middle-earth: Shadow of War. The update will also mark the debut of the new Windows Fluent Design System, which aims to upgrade the look and feel of the OS and apps.

Microsoft has been testing several of these features in its Windows Insider Preview Programme, including eye control.

The Explorer features two-front mounted cameras for inside-out position tracking, meaning you won't need an external tracking camera like the Vive, Rift and PlayStation VR-the headset features a tracking space of up to 11.5 x 11.5 feet.

Mixed reality is the term Microsoft uses to describe software that covers both augmented and virtual reality.

Acer Switch 7 Black edition - another 2-in-1 notebook with discrete graphics and an Intel Core i7 processor and Nvidia MX150 graphics. The release of the Fall Creators Update also signals the arrival of some of the very first Mixed Reality headsets from third-party manufacturers.
