In late May, the Russian Navy bombed ISIS jihadists near the Syrian city of Palmyra.

The SAC is a loose coalition of Arab militants that are part of the SDF.

The Velikiy Novgorod and Kolpino are two of Russia's latest Varshavyanka-class stealth submarines, and joined the Russian Black Sea fleet late last year. Before this, they were only reachable by air drops.

Pro-American forces in Syria are dominated by Kurds who seek self-government after the war.

Abu Kholed would not say whether there were plans to advance on Deir Ezzor city itself.

Separate suspected Russian and US-led coalition strikes on Syria's Deir Ezzor province killed at least 39 civilians on Thursday, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitor said.

Recent fighting and military operations in Deir Ez-Zor Governorate have put residents in the line of fire, reportedly resulting in civilian deaths and damage to civilian infrastructure. It has repeatedly fired salvoes of Kalibr missiles into Syria, from both surface warships and submarines. That has become the focus.

"As intense fighting around Deir ez-Zour and in Raqqa continues, the UNHCR reiterates its calls for the protection of the civilian population, their safe passage out of areas of conflict and respect for the principles of international humanitarian law", Mahecic said.

Meanwhile, U.S. -backed Syrian forces are advancing in the surrounding province from the east and north. This is a dramatic turn of affairs.

The video, released by the Kurdish YPG (main SDF branch), showed technicals and Humvees driving en route to Deir ez-Zor.

"We always state that our project is eliminating terrorism", he said. Opening the land route to the city allowed a reliable supply route to be established.

The contours of the defeat of the terrorist organizations in Syria emerges more clearly.

An estimated 93,500 people in the city require urgent assistance, according to a statement released today by Ali Al-Za'tari, the UN Resident/Humanitarian Coordinator for Syria. The UN released a report that suggested that the Syrian government had used chemical weapons in Khan Sheikhoun in April (Syria denied that it had used toxic gases against its people because "it does not have them in the first place"). Therefore, the most difficult task of the liberation of Deir ez-Zor will decide the soldiers of the Syrian army.

Islamist paramilitaries seeking autonomy for the south, a wider political goal, had been active for more than a decade and even came quite close to a peace agreement with the Manila government.
