One dead, three injured after school shooting in Washington state, police say

UPDATE | One student was killed and three were wounded Wednesday before their aassailant was arrested in a shooting at Freeman High School in Rockford, Washington, near Spokane, police said. "The Marysville School District will stand by them and provide the support and care needed in the days and months to come".

"He entered the school and proceeded to take his weapons out".

The Spokesman-Review reports that six people were shot in the Freeman High School shooting and the suspect is in custody. After shots were fired, students went running and screaming down the hallways, the teen said.

The healing is starting for the families of students in the Freeman School District, south of Spokane, where a student this morning shot four fellow students, killing one. The suspect's identity has not been released.

Per reports, five ambulances and a helicopter have been called to the scene.

A two-lane road into the community of about 500 people near the Idaho border was clogged with vehicles.

High school students were evacuated to the football field and to an elementary school down the street, which along with a nearby middle school were placed on precautionary lockdown.

"[He was] a nice kid from what I saw, he was kind of an outsider, I guess, but I never thought he would do something like this", another student told the station outside the high school.

"They just sounded like popping", the student said.

The shooting killed Strahan, and sent three girls to the emergency room at Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center.

Harper said the suspect had many friends and was not bullied, calling him "nice and amusing and weird" and a huge fan of the TV show "Breaking Bad". Freeman High is located in Rockford, Washington.

"It was heartbreaking to hear that someone had died", Solsom said.

Another junior, William Solsom, said, "You wouldn't really expect something to happen at a school like this". The gunfire was first reported on September 13 at Freeman High School in Spokane, Washington.
