The club announced his re-signing with a video on social media of the striker singing Swansea fans' iconic chant for him, which manager Paul Clement admitted he "couldn't get out of my head".

"He said there was a massive amount of interest in Renato and so I left it for a couple of weeks".

The Portugal global is set to make his Swans debut against Newcastle on Sunday after completing a shock season-long loan from Bayern Munich. When I came back I didn't think they'd put that video on social media!

Bony also declared that the huge excitement on him, just makes him more keen to win trophies: "That is double motivation for me [to hear the fans sing the song again]".

"I just wanted to make clear Swansea is not involved in this".

He had overseen a first win of the season in the previous game before the global break - a handsome 3-0 victory over West Ham - but his side initially struggled to reproduce that form in his absence.

There were offers from France and Turkey to resurrect his career, but Bony said his mind was made by his two sons who are both Swansea supporters.

He added: "The Premier League will suit him because he's an aggressive player".

'He played 70 minutes the other night for Portugal Under 21s and when I knew him at Bayern he was always in good physical shape. I crossed my fingers for them in the last five games. "Another late arrival, Wilfried Bony, is a good buy by the Welsh side too".

Swansea City manager Paul Clement has claimed that his current squad is stronger than the one he had at his disposal last season, despite losing the likes of Gylfi Sigurdsson, Fernando Llorente and Jack Cork during the summer transfer window. "There were other options - Lille, Fenerbahce and others - but most important was what my family said".
