The retail giant accidentally listed pre-orders for the system weeks ago, and pre-orders poured in from all over the world before Walmart admitted it was a mistake. It will cost about $80 and come with 21 pre-loaded games, including the never-before released "Star Fox 2".

The SNES Classic Edition isn't yet available and it has already experienced a huge amount of drama.

Though the post didn't specify a launch date in stores, the Nintendo website says it is September 29, and that the systems will retail for $79.99.

No word yet on an official date or time that pre-orders will go live, but stay tuned for more details as we get them. Available units were spoken for within minutes, leaving many irritated that they missed their first opportunity to purchase the system. People scrambled to get their hands on the device, only to find out a few days later that Walmart didn't plan to honor the pre-orders.

The situation has only led to further doubt which Nintendo publicly addressed on Tuesday.

Nintendo began pre-orders in the United Kingdom weeks ago. On top of that, a "significant amount of additional systems" will be made available at retailers on launch day and will continue to be supplied throughout the year. We have written an article in regards on how to pre-order the SNES Classic in the US, UK, and Australia here.

Many worry that the same will happen with the SNES Classic Edition, especially with Nintendo only confirming stock through the rest of 2017.
