ALEXIS Sanchez is in contention to appear for Arsenal this Sunday when they tackle London rivals Chelsea in the FA Community Shield at Wembley.

Seven points the difference between the league champions Chelsea and second placed Tottenham Hotspurs last season, where we saw the title decided two weeks prior to the season's conclusion.

In the past Wenger has been powerless to turn down City's millions for the likes of Emmanuel Adebayor, Samir Nasri and Kolo Toure as Arsenal were paying off the building costs of the Emirates Stadium.

And City are confident that Sanchez wants to join them this summer, with the Daily Star reporting that they will leave the door open until the end of the window, which closes at the end of August.

Sanchez returned to training with Arsenal this week after an extended break following his participation in the Confederations Cup and a bout of flu.

Arsene Wenger has confirmed that Mesut Ozil and Aaron Ramsey are major doubts for Arsenal's clash with Leicester City on Friday night while Alexis Sanchez is also unlikely to start.

He was originally meant to return to first team training on Sunday, but when he posted a picture on his Instagram account revealing that he was sick, rumours about his imminent departure from Arsenal spread like wildfire.

The Gunners finished fifth in the Premier League last term and failed to qualify for the Champions League for the first time in Wenger's reign, meaning they will play in the Europa League instead.

"I think he will be here for this season and if we manage to do it for more seasons, we'll do it as well".

"Every game is a battle in the Premier League, like today". The clubs do not want to pay this for normal players.

"I'm very happy because we won the trophy we wanted to win and because I believe the quality of the game was very good", Wenger said.

Conte added: "I'm not surprised (Wenger stayed)".

"Alexandre Lacazette is a proven goalscorer", Owen told the Premier League's official website when asked who will win the golden boot.
