According to the Shields Gazette, Newcastle United manager Rafa Benitez has informed Jack Colback he's been left OUT of the club's 25-man Premier League squad for the season ahead.

Reports are now suggesting a deal to take Kenedy on loan for this campaign is close to being completed and a deal could be confirmed before Sunday's Premier League opener at home to Tottenham. "Every manager wants to improve and have better players. At the same time, I am happy with the players I have because the team spirit was good last season and hopefully we can replicate that".

But Benitez is unhappy that other Newcastle targets have been missed although he admitted that it has been hard. I felt really, really good against Verona.

"It is important for the fans to understand that this year will be totally different".

Benitez admitted his frustration at the lack of transfer activity so far this summer on Tyneside. We know what we need (in the transfer market) and we will try to do this until the end of the window.

"It's quite hard for every team, but especially the ones that do not have as much money as the others", he said.

However, the Spanish club are struggling to meet the Gunners' reported £13m asking price and talks are rumbling on.

The 21-year-old caused offence with his ill-advised posts on social media.

This suggests SkyBet think the chances of him moving on this summer are highly likely - the only question is where?

There's no big advance right now to scare Deportivo, so they're getting confident again, and won't rule out Lucas Perez arriving.

Former Liverpool striker Dean Saunders believes Rafa Benitez could walk away from Newcastle United.
