"I was very angry", the baby's mother said.

Two underage babysitters have been arrested after a video on Snapchat showed them placing an infant in a refrigerator, police said.

Moments later, they opened the refrigerator and removed the infant.

The baby's mother says the girls thought it was a joke and she doesn't believe they would harm the baby in any way.

The child's mother told ABC affiliate WCVB that the two babysitters are her niece and the niece's friend.

"I was horrified. I was in shock".

It appears to show the duo laughing as they close the refrigerator door on the upset - but unharmed - infant.

In a horrifying incident of its kind, a baby was put inside a refrigerator by baby sitters and the video was posted on Snapchat.

It is not clear from the clip how long the child was inside for, but they eventually return to take it out.

After an investigation, two female juveniles were arrested and charged with child endangerment and assault and battery by means of a risky weapon - the refrigerator, O'Connell said.

She says she was showering and left the baby with her and a 14-year-old friend for about a half hour.

The baby was not injured in the incident and is home safe with its family. They were arraigned the same day in Salem juvenile court.

The mother also said her niece is no longer allowed to babysit or see her 7-month-old.

The girls, who are from the nearby Swampscott area, were arrested Tuesday after the video was reported to the Department of Children and Families (DCF).
